Torsdag 14. - 17. september gikk Spill-o-rama av stabelen for tredje gang. Mer enn 60 brettspillere hadde samlet seg til fire dager med brettspilling og moro i Stavanger. I år hadde vi byttet hotell, og vi var spente på hvordan det skulle gå. Heldigvis fungerte det nye hotellet veldig bra, med flott utsikt og et glimrende "avlastningsrom" vegg i vegg.

For første gang fikk Spill-o-rama en gjest fra utlandet. William Attia, spillmakeren til det prisbelønte Caylus, hadde tatt turen fra Frankrike for å delta. Han hadde selvsagt med seg en del nye prototyper, bl.a. Ystaris neste spillutgivelse etter Yspahan (skal utgis våren 2007). I løpet av de fire dagene arrangementet varte ble det spilt mange spill. Det mest spilte spillet var sannsynligvis Caylus. Andre spill som ble mye spilt var Princes of the Rennesaince, Rum & Pirates og Thurn and Taxis. Etter å ha lært noen spillere Wayfinder lørdag morgen, ble dette også spilt mye. Og action-spillene Pitchcar og Looping Louie var som vanlig i bruk nesten konstant. I år så jeg også flere prototyper bli spilt enn tidligere, så det virker som det gror i det norske spillmaker-miljøet også.

Som alltid er det personene som deltar som gjør Spill-o-rama til en årlig høydare. Her treffer jeg venner som jeg kun treffer her, for både spilling, diskutering og sosialisering, og det ser jeg alltid fram til.

Thursday the 14th to 17th of September the third annual Spill-o-rama boardgaming event was arranged. More than 60 boardgamers was gathered for four days of gaming and fun in Stavanger, Norway. This year we had moved the event to a new hotel, so we were a bit anxious about this. But as it turned out, the new hotel worked really great and we'll probably return to this hotel next year.

For the first time, Spill-o-rama was honoured with a guest from outside Norway. William Attia, the author of Caylus, had taken the trip to Norway. He brought with him a couple of new prototypes, including Ystari's next game after Yspahan (to be published spring 2007). Look at the pictures and videofilms below, and you'll get a bit more information about this.

Throughout the event many games were played. The most played game was probably Caylus. Other much played games were Princes of the Rennesaince, Rum and Pirates and Thurn and Taxis. After I teached some players Wayfinder on Saturday morning that game saw a lot of playing too. And of course the action games Looping Louie and Pitchcar were in use almost constantly. This year I saw more prototypes than ever before, which means that there is a growing authoring scene in Norway too.

As previous years, Spill-o-rama is made special by all the great people that's attending. It's a great place to meet great people. To give you a little piece of the athmosphere I've uploaded the pictures I took and two videofilms made by Nils Håkon Nordbeg.
